COP Publication - What is a publication?

Since my group met with Jo last week I have decided to change my idea. I am going to further research the lecture we had on Media Specificity. Even though I find it hard to pronounce and spell specificity. I am going to focus on the Gutenberg press and the internet comparing the two inventions.

I want to focus on how this technology impacted society and advanced civilization.

What is a Publication?
I just presume that a publication is a book of some sort. Below I am going to explore what a publication can mean and how it can take physical shape, what medium my publication will be.

As define by Google:
  • - A copy of a printed work offered for distribution

  • - Issue: the act of issuing printed materials

  • - The communication of something to the public; making information generally known

  • - The business of issuing printed matter for sale or distribution
  • - To publish is to make content available to the public.

Examples:

Publication Ideas

From Jo's task I decided that I was going to do something relating around the word Surveillance. This relates to Modernism and the ever evolving world we live in. As technology advances global surveillance increases.

Some words relating to Surveillance:
voyeurism - the practice of obtaining sexual gratification by looking at sexual objects or acts, especially secretively. Spying on people. I think this could be interesting especially
Bugging
Observing
Watch
Spy
Tracking
Scrutiny
Scan
Survey
Investigate
Finger prints
DNA
Mobile phones
Internet
SOPA
Patriot act
Camouflage

What is a line?

Frame and Format examples. Just trying to get an idea of what the posters will look like with the typography framed. A few different layouts. Here you can see some design sheets I made too:
